October 29, 2012 – With the confirmation of a new government this monday also news about the state owned casino Holland Casino was released. In the new plans of the two-party cabinet regulation of both online and offline gambling there is no room left for a state owned casino.
The casino will be sold “under conditions”. What this exactly means remains unclear. Probably the buyer will have to meet strict conditions as they will have an almost 100% market share in the Dutch casino market from the beginning.
Further details reveal that both offline loteries as well as online gambling will be regulated. The Dutch government will give out licenses in an auction. Online gaming will be taxed with a 29% taxrate. Expected revenues from online gambling is €31 million. Together with this regulation illegal operators in the Dutch market will be pursued actively.
